Everything You Need to Know About the Sparhawk Squarespace Template
When I first launched my design business, I had a clear-cut plan.
Step 1: Grow a wildly successful 6-figure client-based business.
Step 2: Create passive income with a line of digital design products.
Launch a course to share my hard-won design and business acumen.
Well, the design part of my business is still less than a year old and I haven’t hit six figures yet. And about four months ago I realized that I didn’t want to wait to launch my first digital product. So I skipped to step two of the plan and started developing my very first premium Squarespace template.
Let me tell you, prepping this template for sale was a BIG learning experience. There are so many logistics and things that have to be considered when selling digital products. Everything from product delivery to my marketing strategy had to be planned out in advance…and there was a lot of trial and error along the way as I test-drove new ideas.
Today, I’m so pleased to finally announce the launch of Sparhawk—a premium Squarespace template specifically designed for service providers and course creators. 🎉
The Story Behind the Template
The genesis of Sparhawk came in the fall of 2018, when I signed up for Meg Summerfield’s Square Design Mastermind. It was over the course of that 7-week class that I created the brand guidelines for Sparhawk and developed a mock site for my portfolio (which you can see here) that would later serve as the basis for the Sparhawk template.
The template is named after my great-grandfather. Sparhawk was his middle name but everyone called him Spark. In the 1950s, he build a picturesque cottage on an idyllic spit of shoreline in the heart of Acadia National Park. Some of my favorite childhood memories involve running wild along the coast, soaking up the crisp salt air.
The branding and imagery of Sparhawk are inspired by the many foggy Maine days I experienced as a child.
Features of the Sparhawk Template
I didn’t just want to create a beautiful Squarespace template. I wanted to create a template that would actually help creative entrepreneurs grow their online businesses. And since I specialize in strategic web design, I got to work designing the most strategic template I could possibly think of.
Sparhawk vs. Sparhawk+
There are two versions of the Sparhawk template. The “basic” version (which is anything but basic) includes 12 unique page layouts and is designed specifically for service providers. Here’s what’s included:
Homepage
About
Blog (There are two blog layouts you can choose from!)
Services
Service Sales Page
Shop
Contact
FAQ
Gallery
Scheduling
Custom 404 Error Page
Terms + Privacy Pages
Each page is strategically designed to boost conversions and help you book more clients with less work.
Now, you might be wondering why there’s a services page and a sales page for services. Most templates have a services page…but if you sell a high-ticket service that costs four figures or more, you’re going to need more than a blurb on a services page to book your ideal clients. The service sales page is strategically designed to help you book those discerning high-end clients for your high-ticket service.
Sparhawk+ is more than just a website template. It’s a complete sales funnel. I designed it specifically with course creators in mind but it’s equally well-suited to service providers and can even come in handy if you sell digital prodcucts.
Sparhawk+ comes with 10 additional page layouts.
Coming Soon Landing Page - to start growing your email list before you launch your new website.
Instagram Landing Page - so that you don’t have to use an unbranded Linktree or Linkin.bio page.
Opt-In Landing Page - to showcase your lead magnet and grow your email list faster than ever.
Opt-In Confirmation Page - to prompt new subscribers to take further action, like checking their inbox, joining your Facebook group, following you on social media, etc.
Tripwire Sales Page - to sell a low-cost tripwire product that will boost your overall revenue and prime new customers to make bigger purchases in the future.
Webinar Registration Page - to entice potential customers to sign up for your evergreen webinar.
Evergreen Webinar Page - to host your evergreen webinar and easily sell your online course.
Courses List Page - a place to stylishly list your courses if you have more than one.
Course Sales Page - a strategically-designed sales page for selling your online course.
Course Waitlist Page - to help you grow your email list and build anticipation before launching your online course.
The beauty of this template is that it’s comprehensive. Lots of service providers also sell products and courses, so why not have a template that serves all of those needs at once? That’s exactly what Sparhawk is designed to do.
Key Template Features
Many Squarespace templates are packaged as “kits” that you have to build yourself using image files and video tutorials. Sparhawk comes pre-installed. When you purchase, an exact copy of the demo site will be dropped right into your Squarespace account where you can customize it to your heart’s content.
Speaking of customization, Sparhawk is built on the Brine template, which means it’s super flexible. You can customize everything from fonts and colors to pages and structure. I even have a video showing you exactly how to edit the CSS code so that you have total control over every aspect of the template’s appearance.
Sparhawk also comes with a 12-module Launch Course. The course includes video tutorials that show you how to customize everything, links to additional resources on everything from Squarespace to SEO, and recommended tools to help you build an outstanding website.
Additional Services
If you want Sparhawk installed on an existing Squarespace website (as opposed to being installed as a new website on your Squarespace account), I offer done-for-you installation for an additional fee of $200. This covers the hours of labor it takes to build out the template block-by-block on your existing website.
The video tutorials that come with the template show you how to customize the template but if you’re not at all tech-savvy or you just don’t want to invest that much time, I offer template customization packages starting at $1,500.
If you want to customize the template yourself but want some additional features added to the code, I also offer code tweaks for an hourly rate of $100 ($50 minimum).
